21 days to release money

just opened an account, sold some bits of which i have received payment, but i have to wait 21 days to clear, i can't send the items because i don't have the funds to do so, they want me to make 10 transactions, how do i do this, i rely on the funds to pay postage, this is not a good business practice, and will be closing the account in 22 days, i like a lot of people sell things so i can survive. they have taken their cut, and no doubt earning interest on the money. not fit for purpose

Paypay enabled a fraudulent Bitcoin transaction

Bought a bitcoin and never received it. I had read online about bitcoin chargebacks by fraudulent buyers. Seeing I have great feedback and am an honest person, I felt I had nothing to worry about because the risk was on the seller. I bought 1 bitcoin at 498$. The seller didn't send within 24 hours as stated, so I opened a case. Paypal told me after a couple of weeks that cryptocurrency is not covered in their UA, however when purchased with a credit card rather than Paypal balance, Paypal will refund the buyer who got frauded. Since I used my balance, they did nothing. Paypal will only overturn if the BC is bought with a credit card, proving it is possible to overturn for Cryptocurrnency fraud. So frustrating!

PAYPAL. Consumer doesn't matter. Seems that to paypal only money matters.

I unsuccessfully spent several hours trying to find out information about paypal's policies concerning my account and in resolving a payment to ebay. Paypal is a business that does not earn the trust of the public to ask for sensitive information such as your social security number, date of birth, financial accounts or credit/debit card numbers. Their customer service is disastrous. When you call paypal which is not even an 800 number, the pre-programmed system asks you for the last 4 digits of your credit card number regardless if you have an account or not. It does not provide an option to speak with paypal representatives without providing said 4 digits unless you persist and repeat "Agent" about 100 times while trying to keep your cool. What if you just want to speak with someone to feel safe about opening an account with them? You have no choice but to find out that the live persons who finally answer are trained to read from a script with no authority to resolve issues or answer any question in depth. I wonder why they haven't been replaced by robots yet...who just like the programmed voice system are designed to make you struggle with the recording to keep you from reaching a live person who could actually be helpful. I wanted to make a one time purchase for 80 dollars on ebay and was asked to open a paypal account even though the payment page offered a guest payment via debit/credit card only to repeatedly decline processing. Opening a paypal account requires providing your SSN and/or copy of your driver's license and all other personal information which I did not feel comfortable providing after a day long of frustrating customer service experiences. What if later on a real issue came up as you can read about in so many postings made by disappointed paypal users... How can anyone trust a company that lives in cyberspace and can't be reached for the most part, who doesn't even provide an email address in a visible manner, impossible to find for the general public, which only lets you speak with people somewhere in the Phillipines, India or where ever in the world who don't do anything more than read a script in dealing with someone? The long wait on the phone is another frustrating predicament. After all we are dealing with people's money in the hands of a business that lacks transparency, integrity and consistency according to my experience with them all day today. On top of that they have limited hours of operation in which they can be reached. This is unheard of for a financial business of their magnitude with some 179 million accounts!!!!!!! I had to call 4 times requesting to speak with a supervisor. Once I had her on the phone, she told me that I can use a 'my cash paypal card' to add money to an old existing paypal account that was established before the requirements of providing all your sensitive information. Since I already received contradicting information from paypal customer service all day, I double checked on the 'my cash paypal' website and called reaching a live person (which was almost impossible due to similar phone recordings) only to find out it wasn't so. You can find so many online posts by angry people having had horrible experiences with paypal that I wonder why the public puts up with this! I have lost all confidence in dealing with paypal and providing sensitive information to them. I understand that it is mandatory for financial institutions to request a SSN according to the Patriot Act, but a company that is impossible to reach, has misinformed, badly trained representatives and doesn't even provide an email address to the public is a shady operation that should not have the right to request private information. They even require that sensitive information if anyone just wants to add a bank card to paypal. WHY???? That person's validity has already been verified through the bank that provided him/her with a bank card. You can use a debit or credit card anywhere on the web to make a purchase without providing your SSN. This is seriously flawed with paypal! They monopolize on ebay payments and collect more information by millions of people than necessary, freezing their accounts and holding their money for some 180 days with questionable excuses. Is that how they've become so profitable? For all I know know, they are not trustworthy in my book. For the benefit of the public, these and all other negative issues and experiences by people dealing with paypal need to be addressed by as many people as possible publicly to have paypal correct their procedures and customer relations so that the public is no longer stressed by self serving paypal actions and protected from such dubious business practice.

Transaction fees, Transfer limit, Check fee, Can't close account

Forgot I even had an account until a customer paid a $555.12 bill through PayPal Transaction cost me almost $17.00 in PayPal fees. Can only transfer $500/month to my bank account unless I provide SSAN or let them link to my debit card -Already gave them links to my bank account and logged in through PayPal web page where the disclaimer says: "Don't worry, we don't save the login information" - No way I'm giving them more information. $38 and change stuck in the account -Can't transfer until next month -Can get a paper check snail-mailed FOR AN ADDITONAL FEE AND 5 - 7 BUSINESS DAY DELAY Customer service says next time: "Click on Refund Payment and then contact the customer for another form of payment." How about I just close the account so nobody can use it to send payments? SURPRISE! ***CAN'T EVEN CLOSE OR SUSPENDTHE *** ACCOUNT UNTIL ZERO BALANCE*** TIP: To prevent any more customers from paying via PayPal I had to: 1. Add a new email address 2. Confirm email address 3. Make new email address 'Primary Account' If customers don't have the email address on the account they can't send payments. Next steps: 1. Transfer remaining balance next month 2. CLOSE PAYPAL ACCOUNT

Paypal Refuses To Return Money

I started a small home business because I'm elderly and disabled. I asked my customers to pay me with a Paypal cash card which I added to my online Paypal account. I thought that was how to use the account and I felt safe because others wouldn't have my bank account information. They said they sent me an email telling me not to do this, but I don't remember ever seeing the email. Paypal closed my account that had a balance of $100 in it and refused to give it to me. They said I could have it in about 6 months, that they would send it to me. That has been over a year ago. I actually forgot about it. When I call them, they say I have a zero balance, but when I talk to a person they can see the $100. This tells me that they purposely try and steal your money. I bought a $200 cash card on January 27,2016, to pay a girl for an item. When she tried to load the card to her account it wouldn't load. She called Paypal and they said she had some error code and that whoever purchased the card would have to get the money off the card. I called Paypal and followed their instructions to get a refund. They sent me an email saying they reviewed my claim and I should be able to redeem it; although, my account was closed permanently over a year ago and PP will not allow me to use it. Their response is that they are sorry I lost my money.?? I discovered that the bank behind the card is GE Capital - that old company that swindled so many people and had to change their name. The new name they operate under is Syncroany Bank. When you call the number on the back of the cash card 1-85*-721-**** it is supposed to be that bank. The number for PP directly is 1-88*-221-****. But...you will not get any help from them either. My opinion is this is a scam operation. They prey on people who just don't understand how THEY want you to use their system and then punish you by keeping your money. It's usually not an amount that would warrant hiring an attorney, so they get away with it. Who knows how many thousands of dollars they have of people's money like me. They must also be tight with the government, because they are now immune to a class action suit, which has been filed against them in the past. I would strongly discourage anyone from using Paypal. What's the difference in an identity thief stealing your money or PP stealing it? It will be very sad for people like this when Jesus comes to rule this earth, there will be justice then and people like this will be in a very bad place.

Paypal's billing error cost me $108 in fees

The negligence of Paypal to rectify a simple billing mistake (on their part) resulted in $108.00 of late fee charges to me by my bank. The situation is as follows: I changed my "primary bank" with Paypal to SESLOC credit union, because I had relocated to another state and am no longer actively using my previous bank account with New York Commercial Bank (NYCB). After changing my account settings to ensure that my primary bank would be charged, I made a small purchase of $30.65. Paypal put this charge through to my previous bank, NYCB, which did not have sufficient funds. When I discovered this, I contacted Paypal and asked why they had not charged my new primary bank account. I received only an automated reply. Paypal then proceeded to charge the wrong bank account (NYCB) which I had tried to deactivate using their website but was not permitted to do despite the existence of my other bank account (SESLOC) with plenty of funds in it. Paypal charged this account a total of 5 times within one month, resulting in $108 of late fees from my bank, and never attempted to charge my other account, despite the following email (excerpt) that I was eventually sent in response to my inquiry; ..."We are attempting to recover the money which is owed to us for your purchase of the "Original Sherpa Pet Carrier Dog/ Cat Travel Bag Airline size Small Green". This attempt will be repeated on the first part of each month until the funds are recovered. To summarize, we attempt a charge to your bank twice, then we try your back-up funding source once. Then, if you have a negative balance, on the first part of every month, we attempt to recover your negative balance. Please contact us if you would like further clarification or if you would like a letter to be sent to you to present to your bank detailing why this bank was charged instead of the other bank. Sincerely, Alexander PayPal Merchant Accounts PayPal"

It appears you're not understanding PayPal protocol for utilizing the optional back-up funding sources.

Per the user agreement, the account holder is responsible for managing flow of funds and ensuring the back up accounts are sufficiently endowed to be able to cover your overspending.

Also, you seem extremely confused!

You are allowed to link ONE bank account ONLY.

..... Start over if you need to!

And again, same reply with another ludicrous reason "PayPal reserves the right to limit access to any account reported to be involved in possible fraudulent or high risk behavior."

Strange partners PayPal choose

I have no idea what PayPal calls balance on the account as basically I can't have any money on PayPal account itself, only on linked card/bank accounts. At least today I went to CVS to buy GreenDot card which is actually just prepaid Visa card. Meanwhile it happened I can NOT transfer money from the card to PayPal, I only can link the card to my account, but GreenDot will charge me every month $5.65 or something like this. WTF ? Is it side business for Paypal or what is this scheme to make you buy transfer card from which you can not transfer? Well, I expected a little better from PayPal.

Bitting the hand that FEES them

Banned permanently without fault, due to A family member linked my paypal as they forget theirs (or so they say) to their ebay to sell an item which turned out to be some kind of policy violation but my account is also banned taking out 2 accounts when only 1 had a listing violation if i was new customer i could maybe understand but a former top rated powerseller with 100% feedback and almost two decades paying their fees which were 3x more than my rent when i was selling full time, i can't imagine how they treat their less than perfect customers! I have appealed as even ebay said i should do but paypal doesn't know or care about justice just freezing funds to profit by Barclay (BCS)'s Global Investments. No minimum balance is required, and the fund's current interest rate is 3.46%. PayPal funds freeze draws fire as paypal will not disclose what percentage of PayPal's 57 million active account holders have enrolled in the fund. Most likely all frozen accounts why else would they want to hold for 6 months, PROFIT.

Beware of PayPal Gold Membership Charge

Why should a private individual be processing an auto renewal for a PayPal Gold Membership? Besides, I don't know what a Gold Membership is or if I ever use it. I think not. I contacted the PayPal dispute resolution department. They returned an email stating the transaction was placed on hold. The next day the my acount was charged for the transaction. The dispute center said there is nothing they could do because I had authorized the transaction. Really. I assume the authorization was/is buried in a third party contract. But who? PayPal is certainly in collusion with the process. I suspect that this is a work at home scam that not only does PayPal have knowledge of, but likely constructed the system by which 1,000s and 1,000s of consumers are unwittingly charged for a Gold Membership. Shame on you PayPal. I cancelled my PayPal account today. I expect some form of retaliation from PayPal. I'll let you know it it happens.

Good news regarding settlement

Hey all, Came across this article on the Business Consumer Alliance website and it looks like any of us who have basically been victimized by PayPal may be able to recoup some of the money lost. I know i had my account put on hold for a while and no one could really give me a good reason why. The class action law suit went in favor of the consumers and we may be able to claim some of the $4million dollars they are forced to now pay. Here's the story: http://www.checkbca.org/blog/2016/1/paypal-to-pay-4-million-to-settle-class-action-suit-317

Paypal lies - has horrible customer service

Three complaints: 1.) "Pay after Delivery" is false advertising. It is actually "Pay after 14 days whether or not the product has shipped". They don't even monitor if it has shipped, they simply take the money from your account. 2.) If you open a dispute for, say, shipping and then close it because it ships, you cannot then open a dispute for the quality of the item. In my case, I was disputing Paypal's policy above, not the vendor, but Paypal told me that they had paid the vendor and, because I had opened a dispute, the vendor would not ship me the product so I HAD to close the dispute in order to receive the product. Once I received the product, it was defective but Paypal would not let me open another dispute. How much sense does THAT make? 3.) The message thread trying to resolve this is so ludicrous and laughable. I received robotic messages from Amira, Justine, Ajantha, Deepa, Norli, Siti Fatima, and Rossi... all equally from Mars in their inability to read an email, understand what is going on, and give a darn about customer service, and deliver a relevant reply. It was like pulling a cord on a doll's neck, with nonsensical answers being randomly spewed. Apparently they also have no ability to escalate to a supervisor. I'm guessing this service center is not based in America and these robots have not been properly trained and have no clue what customer service is. I will never use Paypal again.
